◎평서문 : S(주어) + V(동사)

◎평서문 부정 : not , never 사용

 

⊙be동사 가 쓰인 평서문의 부정형 - be동사 + not

She is kind -> she is not kind      

I am good at math -> I am not good at math

They are my friends -> They are not my friends

 

⊙조동사 가 쓰인 평서문의 부정형 – 조동사(Can, May, Must, Have to, Should) + not + 동사원형

He can play the guitar               긍정문(능력)

-> He cannot play the guitar      부정문(능력)

-> Can I play the guitar              의문문(능력 또는 허락)

 

You may watch TV                     추측이나 허가

-> You may not watch TV    

 

You should do your homework                 긍정문: ~하는 게 좋겠다, ~해야 한다. 조언이나 충고

-> You should not do your homework       부정문: ~하지 않는 게 좋겠다,~해서는 안된다 

-> Should I do my homework?                   의문문:~하는 게 좋을까요?

※ Can의 과거형 could, will의 과거형 would. Could나 Would는 과거형으로 쓰이는 것 외에 공손한 표현을 할 때 쓰임.

-> You must not tell a lie          금지

 

I have to study every day                  Must 보다 조금 더 약한 의무: ~해야 한다

->I don't have to study every day       부정형: ~할 필요가 없다             ※ 3인칭 단수는 Has to

-> She will not tell us the story
